THREE people have died in separate incidents including one who was found dead mysteriously in a Mosque’s toilet along Tandamti Street in Ilala District, Dar es Salaam on Thursday.
The Ilala Regional Police Commander, (RPC) Faustine Shilogile said in the City on Friday that the body of the deceased was found lying in Idrisa Mosque’s toilet room number 12 at 11:00 am in the morning.
“His body was found without any wound, but we are still investigating the matter to establish the cause behind his death,” the RPC said.
He said the deceased; Hamis Said (49) was found with a number of sick sheets from different hospitals, indicating that he was suffering from a certain ailment, adding that his body was taken to Amana Hospital for a post mortem.
In another incident, a driver Goldrule Msingi (37) driving aToyota Raum bearing registration number T 471 AVM, died after he lost control of his vehicle and rammed on a tree at Goba area in Kinondoni District on the same day.
The Kinondoni Regional Police Commander, (RPC) Charles Kenyela said Goldrule died on the spot at 8:00 pm in the night, saying the deceased was travelling in the company of three passengers who suffered minor injuries.
He said the injured passengers were rushed to Mwananyamala Hospital for treatment, where they were treated and later discharged on the same day, saying that the body of the deceased has been preserved at the hospital’s mortuary.
He mentioned the names of the injured passengers as Ali Mussa Kawawa, Omari Abdallah and Mfaume Mussa Kawawa.
He said that Police were investigating the incident to establish the cause of the accident. The Kinondoni RPC further said three rooms in an apartment owned by Bank of Tanzania (BoT) were destroyed by fire at Mbezi Beach area in Kinondoni District on the same day.
He said the fire is suspected to have been caused by a candle which was left burning in one of the rooms owned by Dickson Gama (48), saying that the police were investigating the incident to establish exact cause of the inferno.
In yet another incident, a male pedestrian, James who is believed to be between 50 and 55, was knocked down by a speeding Scania with registration number T 795 ABN at Kurasini area in Temeke District.
The Temeke Regional Police Commander, (RPC) David Misime said the investigation on the matter was in progress, saying the lorry driver; Hassan Siraju (26) of Temeke Vetenary is in police custody.
