2000 more remains of bombs collected

By CHRISTOPHER MAJALIWA,

Task Force formed by Tanzania People Defense Force (TPDF), have gathered 2204 remains of bombs, 303 bullets of different variety and 668 fuses that spread after the bombs blast which rocked Dar es Salaam last Wednesday.

TPDF’s Task Force report released on Tuesday stated that collection of the remains of bombs and other arms are still on progress and the force work under three phases; gathering remains of bombs in people’s residence, gathering from the open spaces and clearing the main stores where the explosion primarily started.

Task Force chief in charge, Colonel Mushi said some other diminutive arms were collected from the main stores which burnt down and all with the remains of bombs will be soon wiped out.

“The team is working effectually to collect the remains of the bombs and other firearms, but there are still some remains in pit latrines and this gives us hard time in gathering them but all efforts are underway to put everything in its place,” said Colonel Mushi.

Areas where most of the remains were found according to TPDF Task Force include Gongolamboto, Majohe, Pugu, Pugu Mnadani, Kinyerezi, Kwembe, Mbagala, Mbezi and Kinyamwezi.

TPDF, however told the chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee for Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security Mr Edward Lowassa who visited the camp that the cause of the explosion is yet to be established.
