From ISSA YUSSUF in Zanzibar,

AS Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) marked its 34th anniversary yesterday, Dr Ali Mohamed Shein has called upon members of the party to strengthen unity, build the party, and work hard for development so that it can remain as the ruling party.

Addressing supporters during the climax of the celebrations held at Mwembe-Kisonge grounds, Michenzani in Zanzibar, Dr Shein said the ruling party party was a liberator and has brought peace, stability, and justice in the country, “therefore we must enhance the achievements and party.”

“I am surprised by those who say CCM has lost its vision, while CCM has been in the forefront in fighting for the rights of all the people including the poor. CCM remains strong and united, with respect to human rights and democracy,” Dr Shein said.

The isles president continued to preach for peace and stability in the country, which he said was essential for economic, political, and social development “after successful peaceful general elections.”

He commended CCM supporters for showing political maturity, and asked them to start preparing for another landslide victory in the 2015 general elections.

In response to the VP’s call, CCM deputy Secretary General- Zanzibar, Mr Saleh Ramadhani Feruzi, said that CCM was preparing for victory in future elections and that it would start “by picking good leaders in the 2012 CCM general elections.”

Feruzi also thanked the Zanzibar First Lady, Mwanamwema Shein for taking the front line during campaigns, which enabled the party to retain its position.
